LASG advises owner of Houses marked for demolition on what to do or risk forfeiture of their houses

– The Lagos State Government LASG has advised the owners of houses marked for demolition 

– According to the LASG, it advised the house owners to rebuild them or risk forfeiture of their houses

As the demolition of distressed and defective structures continue in Lagos State, the State Government in a new statement has advised the owners of such houses on what to do.

The Lagos State Government in the statement urged the House Owners to rebuild the houses if not they should be ready to forfeit their houses.

Recall that the Lagos State Government demolished 40 buildings recently while 38 others have been marked for demolition last week.

According to the report made by the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, it made it known that 149 distressed and defective buildings have been identified in different parts of the state.

The state government also called on the people of the state to report locations of distressed buildings in the state.

Below is the statement released by the Lagos State Governmrment via it Twitter handle, it read,

The Lagos State Government has advised owners of structures marked for demolition to rebuild them forthwith or risk forfeiture of their houses

According to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development,149 distressed and defective buildings were identified in different parts of the state.

The State Government also called for the co-operation of members of the public in reporting locations of distressed structures to the state authorities

It would be recalled that 40 buildings were demolished by LASG recently while 38 others were marked for demolition prior to last week’s unfortunate incident.
This latest move on the demolition of distressed buildings started after the collapse of a three-storeyed building at Ita Faaji, Lagos Island last week Wednesday that saw to the death of schools pupils among others with several other injured.
