1. Stop Chasing Me, I’m a Senator Not a Criminal – Dino Melaye

As the drama unfolds between Senator Dino Melaye and the Nigerian Police, Dino has warned the Nigerian Police to stop the chase and that he would submit himself upon his return to Abuja as he said he was out of Abuja.

According to Dino Melaye, “I was informed that my house has been invaded,  over 40 policemen inside the compound and over 50 outside the gate. My staff were molested, beaten and handcuffed and taken away.”

He continued with the drama, “Presently I’m outside Abuja. I’m a Senator of the Federal Republic of Abuja, I cannot run away. I will make myself available as soon as I’m back to town next week. I am not a criminal; I have not done anything wrong”.

2. Nigerians Expect Rise in Inflation, Borrowing Rates —CBN Report

There has been a projected rise in inflation and borrowing rates as well as Naira appreciation in the next 12 months.

Some Nigerians gave the projection in the Central Bank of Nigeria 2018 fourth quarter Consumer Expectations Survey that has now been released on its website.

According to the report, “the major drivers of the expected upward movement will be in prices of rent, food and other household needs, telecommunication, electricity, debt payment and purchase of house.”

3. Who is Telling the Truth, Davido or Kizz Daniel’s Manager?

Pop star, Davido has been reported to have assaulted singer, Kizz Daniel’s manager, Oluwatumininu Lawrence, for accidentally bumping into him during his ‘City of David Concert.’

However, Davido in an attempt at fake apology said, “Nope, ok Kizz Daniel manager I apologize for doing nothing”.

It’s now Davido’s word against that of Kizz Daniel’s manager, Oluwatumininu Lawrence, because according to Kizz’ Manager, he didn’t even see who slapped him because stars were popping out of his eyes but he was sure Davido was the closest person to him, so there is a possibility that Davido rendered the star popping slap.

4. Court Orders Forfeiture of $2.8M Seized from Akanu Ibiam International Airport

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered an interim forfeiture of the controversial $2.8 million, the EFFC had seized last week from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

The EFCC prayed it to do so following the non-appearance of the owners of the cash to claim it.

The court granted the prayer by EFCC and asked EFCC to publish the order in national newspapers in accordance with appropriate laws.

The order came despite strong protest by the money moving company- Bankers Warehouse, which has claimed ownership of the huge cash and has asked the EFCC to urgently return the money and tender an unreserved apology for the seizure.

5. I Hope to See Osinbajo Patronizing Barbing Saloons in Ajegunle, Baga, Zamfara

Former Governor of Ekiti State Mr. Ayodele Fayose has said that he hoped the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will patronise ‘barbing saloons in Ajegunle Lagos, Baga in Borno or those armed bandits controlled towns in Zamfara.’

Fayose while reacting to Osinbajo’s visit to Luxor Salon and Spar, Wuse 2, Abuja to get a haircut said that, “It is only election fever that will drive a VP to that high class barbing saloon in Abuja, something he never did in the last three & half years. ‘I hope to see the VP patronizing barbing saloons in Ajegunle Lagos, Baga in Borno or those armed bandits controlled towns in Zamfara.”

6. Former Lagos CP, Owoseni, Nine Others Retire

Former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni, and nine other senior police officers, has been pulled out from the Force on Saturday after 35 years in service.

Owoseni was police commissioner in Lagos from July 1, 2015, to September 1, 2017.

The retiring officers were pulled out at a colourful ceremony in Lagos amidst cheers by family members, colleagues, and other dignitaries.

Inspector General of Police, represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Intelligence Investigation Department ,FCIID Peace Ibekwe Abdallah  Ibrahim Idris, commended the retiring officers for their service to the nation.

7. Man Goes Mad After 14 Days Fasting and Praying

A middle-aged man has gone mad after embarking on 14 days dry fasting and praying.

He was said to be returning from the church where he carried out the fasting and praying when starting behaving abnormally.

Eye witnesses said he demanded for a plate of fufu and meat but started displaying signs of insanity and said he wants to kill himself.

The pastor of the church where he carried out the fasting came to the scene but refused to give his name. He simply told the people to allow the man to eat and rest.

A former member of the church present at the scene said she left the church because of the manner members were subjected to hunger in the name of fasting.

8. The Adamawa Deputy Speaker and the Majority Leader Sacked

The Deputy Speaker and Majority Leader of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Tsamdu and Hassan Barguma respectively have been forcefully removed.

The Assembly, in an unexpected sitting on Saturday impeached the Deputy Majority Leader, Abubakar Isa (Shelleng Constituency); and Deputy Chief Whip, Abdullahi Nyapak (Verre Constituency).

Lumsabani Dilli (Demsa Constituency) was made the Deputy Speaker, while Hayatu Atiku (Uba-Gaya) was elected Majority Leader in their stead.

It is still unclear why they were sacked especially on a Saturday.

9. London Police Arrest Nigeria’s Head Coach

Nigeria U20 Head Coach Paul Aigbogun has been arrested outside a woman’s house by the London Police for public disturbance on Friday, December 28.

According to allnigeriasoccer.com,the Flying Eagles Coach, who lives in North West London, went to a woman’s house uninvited very late at night, drunk, and continued banging on her door while screaming her name for hours until she was forced to open the door.

Prior to his arrest, the Neighborhood Watch were aware of the situation and they were concerned about hearing the woman scream so often that they called the police on that day.

10. Fayemi Flags off $55 Million World Bank-Funded Project in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has flagged off the rehabilitation of the Ero dam and replacement of transmission main pipelines with a view to addressing water shortage and eliminating open defecation.

Speaking at the event in Ikun Ekiti, Dr Fayemi expressed optimism that the $55 million project which is co-sponsored by the World Bank and the state government would relief the nine LGAs supplied by the dam when uninterrupted potable water is made available to them.
