Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University started academic activities in the year 2005. However, it had its first convocation in 2014.  The institution was named after former Nigeria head of state General Ibrahim Babangida and is also popularly referred to as IIBU. The academic institution is located in Lapai, Niger State.

Prospective students who meet the cut off mark of IBBU qualify for the university post UTME screening and may be considered for admission. The minimum UTME cut off mark for IBBU is 160.
