The  Federal Government has said that over 9.3 million pupils across 26 states have been captured in the school feeding programme. This information was revealed by the Special Adviser to the President on Social Investment Programme, Office of the Vice President, Mrs. Uwais on Thursday. She said the pupils are drawn from over 40,000 government schools in the state. In addition to this, Uwais said the school feeding programme had employed 100, 000 small-scale farmers to supply food items and 96, 972 cooks to prepare the food.

Ajegunle School To Represent Nigeria At Entrepreneurship Competition

Caro Favoured College, Ajegunle, Lagos has emerged the national winner of the Junior Achievement Nigeria 2018 in the National Company of the Year Competition.

The national champions are set to represent Nigeria against other JA Africa member -nations for the title of Africa Company of the Year in Ghana, come December.

The event was held at the Terra Kulture in Lagos, with the theme “Tech The Future by Storm”.The pupils were able to win the competition via their invention of a rechargeable handheld traffic light which can be used to ease traffic.

Okorocha Releases N2.86bn For Reconstruction of Schools

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has announced the release of 2.86 billion naira for the construction and remodeling of 305 primary and secondary schools across the state in a bid to enhance the quality of education in the state.

This information was revealed by the Commissioner of Information, Chidiebere Nzeh, who represented the governor during a briefing held at the Government House in Owerri on Thursday.

The Governor explained that the reconstruction was to ensure the continuation of free and fair education in the state. He also revealed that 5 billion naira has been mapped out for payment of pension arrears.

LCCI President – Pupils Need Knowledge of Economy To Survive

The President Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Babatunde Ruwase, has said that primary and secondary school pupils need to have a knowledge of economic issues so as to be able to navigate them and achieve success while developing the nation.

He made this known through an LCCI council member, Mrs. Sarah Sosan, at the 2018 LCCI Secondary School Essay Competition and Prize Giving Day event held last Friday at the Commerce House, Victoria Island, Lagos. According to Ruwase, the need to educatepupils on economic issues gave birth to the competition and this year ’s theme, The Role of Entrepreneurship in National Development.

Akeredolu: Ondo Spent N2bn on 175 Schools

The Ondo State Government has said it spent N 2 bn on the renovation and construction of 175 primary schools in the Central Senatorial District of the state.

This was made public by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, during a town hall meeting on the preparedness of 2019 budget with stakeholders in the district. Organized by the Ondo State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, the governor used the platform to say that the renovation and construction touched Akure South, Akure North, Ifedore, Idanre, Ondo East and Ondo West Local Government Areas.

Represented by the state Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterunwa, the governor explained that the primary school project was part of the 318 projects worth over N 28 be awarded in the senatorial district in the 2018 budgetary provision between January and September.
