Leicester City Vs Manchester United 3 February Review

Marcus Rashford’s goal in the ninth minute was enough for Manchester United to get a well-deserved win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his ninth win as caretaker manager for the club.

Leicester might have seemed to be on the front foot in the first few minutes but it was Marcus Rashford who got the first chance at goal.

Luke Shaw made a cross from the left with Marcus Rashford connecting to the ball but his header just went wide off the post.

Four minutes after the miss, Marcus Rashford got the goal having Paul Pogba to thank for the pass. The Frenchman who had the choice of passing to the left for an on-rushing Sanchez (the easier pass) chose the harder route by sending a flight footed pass to the Englishman over the shoulders of the Foxes centre-backs.

However, one might be tempted to think that Rashford was the genius there as his first touch placed the ball in a comfortable position for the youngster to fire home the ball and get the lead which would later turn out to be the winner.

Fifteen minutes into the game, James Maddison was close to claiming the equalizer but his shot was blocked by a sliding tackle from Luke Shaw.

The Foxes struggled for most parts of the first half but regained composure in the second half with Maddison firing the side netting while Vardy waited at the middle for a pass but was left disappointed.

That said, Manchester United got a break soon after – with Leicester players camping in United’s half – with the pacey Rashford leading the line but failed to link up well with Sanchez in the final third.

Leicester pushed for an equalizer but just couldn’t make it with Harry Maguire having the last chance at goal for the Foxes.

Worthy of note is that disciplinarian referee Mike Dean dished out eight yellow cards in all with four going to each of the sides.
