Libya vs Nigeria October 2018 – What Nigeria must do to defeat Libya

Libya and Nigeria are set to do battle again for the second time in just 3 days as the second leg of the African Nations Cup qualifiers match will take place later today in Sfax, Tunisia.

The first leg saw action and 4 goals provided between the super eagles duo, Ighalo and Kalu who were helped by in form players like Alex Iwobi and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho. As early as the 4th minute, Nigeria went ahead via a penalty taken by Ighalo after being brought down in the 18 yard box by the libyan goalkeeper. And it is safe to say that the goal gave Nigeria a launching pad to control the game and end the first half on a positive note.

After the first goal, the Libyans plsyed good football and threatened on many occasions, looking to score but good defending from Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun kept the Mediterranean Knights from getting any goal.

The second 45 minutes saw good play and also produced 3 goals with Ighalo bagging two more goals and Kalu placing a right footed curler to score the last goal of the encounter. Some would say it was a relatively easy match  but with three more games to play the super eagles must defeat Libya to stand any real chance of qualification.

An attacking approach with a balanced defensive set-up, and the ability to switch rapidly from attack to defense and from defense to attack is very important. Libya will go on an all-out attack to get goals but if the Super Eagles can play a well balanced counter attacking football, the match will be concluded in the favor of the eagles.

The defenders and midfielders must rely on the speed of Kalu and Ahmed Musa to play on the counter and hurt the libyans on the break to score the goals needed. As attack is a good form of defense, this might also help in keeping the libyan defense from venturing too forward or playing a very high line.

It will be interesting to see how this football match ends, because both teams have what it takes to win.
