Lingard Excited To Be Back In Form

Jesse Lingard is steadily recovering his old self back with the Manchester United academy graduate recently recovering his form over the past few weeks.

The 26-year-old endured a difficult start to the season but has regained in sharpness in attack in recent weeks.

That difficult start to the campaign saw him dumped on the bench at Old Trafford and slip away from England’s Starting XI.

Lingard has however been giving the nod in recent weeks, playing a key role in United’s win over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham and a 2-1 derby win over Manchester City.

The English man also got on the scoresheet for the first time since January when he captained a young United side against Astana in their Europa League clash and reveals he is excited about his recent performances.

Lingard told SkySports:

“I feel good, I feel back to myself, I feel fit, I feel sharp.

“I love working for the team, I love winning games and playing matches.”

When further pressed on whether he was back to his old self, the attacking midfielder responded:

“Yes, he’s back now, he’s back, he is there.

“People go through dips in form, it’s just about finding the right balance and getting back to your usual self which I have.

“Of course you’re frustrated when you’re not playing. You’ve still got to have the right attitude and right mentality when you do go on and try to make an impact. I felt like I did against Sheffield United and from there I’ve kicked on.”

Manchester United might have struggled for the most part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at Old Trafford but they now look back in form and ready to dismantle each and every of their opponents as they come through.

Two wins on the bounce against teams in the ‘top six’ has helped them climb up to fifth on the Premier League standings as they look to smeal themselves into the Champions League qualification spots.
