Getting a ‘white-collar’ job has become part of the life goals of many youths in Nigeria and in fact, the world. This fact can be attributed to the rapid development of the oil-rich Nigerian state.

Some of white-collar jobs pay stipends and minimum wage while others command a comfortable monthly salary. However, skill, and qualification, play a big role in determining how much a person earns at the end of the month.

Let’s take a look at some of the top paying jobs in Nigeria and a hint of how much you can earn monthly if you land some of these jobs. Note that money is expressed in Nigerian Naira.

Petroleum and Chemical Engineers

Engineers who work in oil companies earn an average salary of #600,000 monthly. The salary could rise to N1.5 million and above for after a few years of experience.

Civil Engineers

Civil engineers who are actively involved in construction work or who work with reputable construction companies earn between N300,000-N500,000 monthly.



The men in the air also command a decent monthly salary. From our research, most pilots get paid between N400,000 to N800,000 monthly depending on the airline they work for.


A geologist in an oil firm can earn as much as N600,000 to N800,000 monthly, depending on years of experience.

Software Engineer, Computer Scientist, Information Technologist

Graduates with the above skills who work with telecommunications companies, or oil forms earn N300,000-N700,000 monthly, depending on years experience.

Equipment engineers are handymen who are proficient in their field. An equipment engineer can take in as much as N400,000 monthly.

Water Treatment Superintendent

They play a vital role in our daily lives and get rewarded with a salary that gets to as much N700,000 monthly, depending on years of experience.

Oil Consultant


These are the men who tell the engineers how it’s done. They earn within the range of N700,000 to N1.5 million monthly.

Legal Services Director

Usually known as SANs, they earn as much N1.5 million monthly.

Senior Manager in Big Firms/Companies

These are the big bosses who make all the big decisions in the industry. They earn as much as N1.5 million to N2.5 million.

Managing Director

The MDs of top companies earn as much as N3.5 million to N5million monthly.

All figures have been obtained through thorough research. However, a varying number of factors could mean that some of the figures do not tally with the actual salary being earned by these professionals. We are however convinced that these figures fall within the range in most cases.
