Liverpool Lift Champions League Title With Origi And Salah Masterclass

Liverpool are the new conquerors of Europe and the fans can now no longer care that the kaleidoscope of nostalgic banners they brought to the Wanda Metropolitano were rather out of date, with their last UCL trophy being in 2005.

They have gotten their sixth star and can now add Madrid 2019 to the red, white and yellow flags that have been hanging from windows, lamp posts and bars all over the Spanish capital in memory of their five other European victories. Liverpool fans have got to be the greatest collectors of trophies and memories if you’d ask me.

They are now only behind Real Madrid on 13 and AC Milan on 7 and have indeed now lifted this title more times than all the Premier League clubs put together.

The onslaught started in only a little over 30 seconds when a tricky flick from Sadio Mane kissed the arm of Moussa Sissoko to cost them a penalty. It was a controversial penalty call but still had Mohammed Salah fire the Merseyside club one goal up from the spot.

It took a while for Tottenham to shake their heads clear. They were stunned and talisman, Harry Kane was clearly not woke to the complexities or importance of the game as it were.

They struggled to find their feet but couldn’t, forcing Pochettino to bring on a striker in Fernando Llorente after the break to change the complexion of the game but that didn’t reflect much in the results, did it?

In fact, Tottenham could only manage their first shot of the game in the second half but the gifted hands of Allison always came to the rescue each time the North London club tried to find the back of the net.

Spurs did pay for all their losses when Divock Origi made everyone at the Wanda Metropolitano lose their sanity. There were two sides of the divide – those who tore away in jubilation and those who did same in tears.

Origi had put Spurs to the sword with a well driven low shot into the far right corner after latching on to the ball resulting from some tussle in the box.

Origi is the new black and new found love of all Liverpool fans. C’mon fetch that boy a statue at Anfield.

Liverpool are the new victors of Europe.
