Liverpool Make Premier League Title Statement With Demolition Of Leicester

Liverpool only a few days after lifting the Club World Cup shoved aside Leicester City to establish their dominance in England’s top-flight this term.

The Reds who had managed only a late-goal winner against Flamengo at the Club World Cup saved their best performance for the encounter against the Foxes. Interestingly, they didn’t concede a goal to the second-placed side who had Premier League’s highest goalscorer, Jamie Vardy as the leader of the pack.

If this boxing day encounter between both sides meant anything to the football world, it was that nobody could come close to the Merseyside club at the moment.

Definitely not Leicester. They were dismantled and annihilated right in front of their home crowd. Both clubs are worlds apart at the moment.

Putting things in perspective, the gulf between both sides are as far apart as the two sides of the River Soar.

With Liverpool, there’s no talk of a title race. It’s a one-man show from now onwards with Jurgen Klopp and his men far better than any other Premier League club.

The Reds are now 13 points clear atop the English standings and have played a game fewer than Leicester City. A win for Manchester City against Wolves will take them to just within 11 points of Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers has sirely deserved all the plaudits he’s received this term but he’s surely mo match for Jurgen Klopp.

A 4-0 defeat was enough to silence the folks at the King Power Stadium. Before this game, they have been unbeaten in front of their home crowd in a gargantuan number of games. But that would remain history now.

Leicester were pressed onto submission and could try nothing else than feed Jamie Vardy with the ball and hope that he does a Tom Cruise on Virgil Van Dijk and his centre-back partner.
