Liverpool Vs Bayern Munich UCL 19 February Preview

Last Year UCL finalist, Liverpool will host two-time Champions League winners, Bayern Munich at Anfield stadium in what is the most anticipated round-of-16 double-legged in this year’s edition of the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool

Gary Neville advised Klopp to forget about challenging for the Champions league if the Reds were going to be major contenders to rival Pep’s Manchester City for the Premier League title and it seems like they heeded to this advice after losing back-to-back games against Red Star Belgrade and Paris Saint Germain and needing a win against Napoli on the last day to qualify for the next round of the competition.

Infact, they have also crashed out of the FA and EFL Cups leaving them in contention for the Premier League and Champions League alone.

Important to realize is that Liverpool have been poor in Europe losing five games out of eight since their final match encounter against Madrid in the finals last year.

They have also lost four away games on the bounce including three this term. They will therefore need a won on home soil to offer them any hopes of qualifying for the next round of the competition.

Bayern Munich

The Bavarians have hit a good run of form as of late having been very poor at the beginning of the season posing serious threat to Niko Kovac’ job in the process.

Indeed, they have closed a 10-point gap between themselves and league leaders, Borussia Dortmund in two months and are back in contention for the title race. Although, it must be pointed out that they have played one game more than Dortmund.

That said, it is the Champions League that they truly want but they would need to claim a good win over a strong attacking Liverpool first if they are to stand a chance of making any claim to the title.
