Liverpool Vs Leicester EPL 30 January Review

Liverpool having notched the first goal through Sadio Mane managed to escape defeat to a Leicester side who’s been on a poor run of late. With City having slipped the day before, one would think that the Reds would be inspired to pick all three points having taken an 11-day break before the match but the reverse was the case.

However with two minutes on the clock, there was a sign of good things to come as Sadio Mane put the hosts in front. The Senegalese drove the ball into the box after being on the receiving end of a series of fine passes and slotted it home into the bottom corner.

Foxes goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel was soon called into action as he saved balls from Liverpool forwards Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Allison almost cost the home side a goal when he knitted a poor pass to make-shift right back Jordan Henderson with the English man making a bad tackle on James Maddison. They were lucky not to give away a penalty there.

Scottish left-back gave a neat full-flighted pass to Mane in a counter-attacking run but Harry Maguire just pulled the Senegalese off the man, he was lucky to come off with only a yellow card considering he was the last man there.

For all the errors, the Reds made, they were made to pay for it as Maguire showed himself a savior once again, this time being the goalscorer.

Ben Chilwell sent in a ball for the centre-back after Kloop’s men failed to clear their lines and he just fired home for the equalizer just two minutes into stoppage time for the first 45 minutes.

With prevailing poor weather conditions, Liverpool struggled. Mane tried to get the winner in the last minutes of the game but his header went well over the bar. Liverpool now remain just five points above closest rivals, Manchester City
