Cross River state is perhaps the cleanest state in Nigeria. It is located in the south south region of Nigeria and shares borders with the Republic of Cameroon, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Ebonyi and Benue states. Ross River state is made up of 17 LGAs.

History of Abi Local Government Area

Abi Local Government Area is mainly occupied by Bahumono people and partially by the Agbo people. This Local Government Area has its headquarters in Itigidi and is a Local Government Area in the central senatorial district of Cross River state.

Abi Local Government Area occupies the western part of Cross River state. It is bordered by Yakurr and Biase LGAs.

Akpabuyo Local Government Area in Cross River state has its headquarters in Ikot Nakanda. It was created in 1991 and is occupied by the Efut, Efik and Qua peoples.

Biase Local Government Area has its headquarters in Akpet Central. This LGA is majorly occupied by Efik people and has a landmass of 1,310km². Apart from the Efik language which is the dominant language in this Local Government Area, other languages spoken in this Local Government Area are Erie, Efut, and Umon.

Boki Local Government Area in Cross River state was created in 1991. It shares border with Cameroon and has its headquarters in Boje. This Local Government Area is inhabited by the Boki people and has an area of 2,771km².
