Luiz Set To Make £8m Switch To Arsenal Agrees Deal

Arsenal and Chelsea have reached an agreement over the signing of Brazilian centre-back, David Luiz with the former PSG man set to move over to North London for a fee of £8million.

The Brazilian signed a contract extension to remain at Stamford Bridge in May but won’t see out his contract as he makes a move to the Emirates in spite of Chelsea’s inability to bring in a replacement.

Chelsea are limited in the transfer window following a two year ban that unables them from bringing in any new player during that period. The London Blues were handed a ban after FIFA found the club to be in breach of regulations relating to the international transfer and registration of players under the age of 18.

Arsenal on the other hand have been in the market for a new centre-back and the departure of Laurent Koscielny to Bordeaux has only further necessitated the need for reinforcements.

Talks with RB Leipzig over a move for 20 year old Dayot Upamecano did not yield much fruit, with the Bundesliga outfit demanding up to £75m for the starlet, while Juventus turned down an offer of a two-year loan deal for Daniele Rugani – their proposed alternative – last week.

In spite of Chelsea’s inability to land a new player, Luiz is set to take on the responsibility of marshalling the Gunners defence line

Luiz, 32, missed training with Chelsea on Wednesday in a bid to set the ball rolling on a move and would complete his medicals on Thursday before signing a two year deal with the North London outfit.

Aside Luiz, Arsenal are also hoping to tidy up a deal for Celtic’s Tierney before Thursday deadline for a sum of £25 million with the Gunners first two bids for the Scottish having been rejected.

Tierney is now in London to undergo his medicals and finalise a five year deal with Celtic poised to earn a percentage of any future sale of the highly rated left-back.
