Manchester City Close In On Leicester City With 3-1 Win

Manchester City closed in on second-place Leicester City via a 3-1 win over the Foxes.

The Foxes under the watch of Brendan Rodgers have been prolific in attack and unstoppable overall but then came the great Pep Guardiola and his men who just stopped them in their tracks.

The perseverance of the Citizens because they are no longer the force they were. With a couple of injuries to worry about, they need to work harder for wins, moreso an attacking side like Leicester City.

Kevin de Bruyne was incredible throughout the encounter with winger, Riyad Mahrez following closely behind.

Guardiola said the following of the Belgium International:

“That was the best he has played in a long time. Kevin De Bruyne is a fighter and he helps us keep up the intensity when he’s playing further up. Riyad was so aggressive against [Ben] Chilwell. He wants to score more goals so he took his well.”

The game was even more difficult for City as Leicester got the first goal. Jamie Vardy sent the visitors ahead with his 17th Premier league goal of the season.

Manchester City showed much grit and were determined against all odds to get the equalizer. This they did through former Leicester player, Riyad Mahrez who got the equalizer via a deflected drive.

England International, Raheem Sterling won a penalty which Ilkay Gundogan converted while Gabriel Jesus settled the game with his strike after the interval.

Kevin De Bruyne was very impressive in Manchester City’s game against Arsenal, scoring twice and rattling the post once. It was no different at the Etihad against second-place Leicester City. The Belgian fired a 20-yard low drive which rattled just outside of Kasper Schmeichel’s goal.

Mahrez was then successful in dribbling past Ben Chilwel before driving the ball into the net via a deflection from Caglar Soyuncu.
