Manchester City Dispatch Boogey Everton

Manchester City oversaw a comfortable win over Everton to keep up the pressure on league leaders, Liverpool.

Indeed, the scoreline wasn’t fair to the Toffees who were dogged in the defense and fearless in attack.

They almost earned a point against two-time reigning league champions but were soon dispatched by a brilliant freekick by Riyad Mahrez and a fierce shot by Raheem Sterling.

Yerry Mina was spectacular at the heart of defense for Everton but there is only very little a center-back can  do against the firepower posed by the Citizens.

“It was a good game, this is a difficult place to come, ” Manchester City gaffer, Pep Guardiola said.

“It is only September, but we still needed to win after Liverpool won. The season is long, and we just have to keep going.”

Everton had chances of their own and came close on several occasions, but the visitors were more clinical in the final third.

Quite surprisingly, Marco Silva’s men played with so much energy, exchanging free-flowing passes and gunning for a goal at the other end. But it was the visitors who ended up with all three points.

Here’s what Everton gaffer, Marco Silva had to say about the game.

“There were a lot of positives, and in the second half we had a couple of big chances to affect the result, but we didn’t take them. City were more clinical with theirs.”

As it’s always been this campaign, Kevin De Bruyne showed how fine a player he was; working inswining crosses from the right flank into the box.

It was in this same manner that he helped Gabriel Jesus to the first goal of the encounter.

The Belgian sent in a diagonal in-swinging cross into the box for Gabriel Jesus to connect with a header and head home.
