Manchester City Vs Burnley FA Cup 26th January Review

Manchester City pretty much strolled past helpless Burnley just like we had thought in our pre-match review. However, what was most enthralling was seeing Kevin de Bruyne get back to his form with the Belgian notching a goal and two assists. He was in a class of his own and this time even more physical and aggressive in his play.

Recall that this trophy is one Guardiola will love to win considering it’s the only local trophy the Spanish gaffer is yet to lay his hands on.

He named a strong starting XI – well the citizens always do – welcoming Sean Dyche with Dyche making seven changes to the team that played Watford in a bid to bring on fresh legs.

It didn’t take long for the Citizens to stamp their presence just inside of 23 minutes with Gabriel Jesus firing pass Nick Pope after being set-up by make-shift full-back Danilo.

With the free-flowing play of Manchester City one would think another goal was on the books before the end of the first 45 minutes but their chances went begging.

Sean Dyche made a change at half-time but it wouldn’t deter Manchester City from adding another goal just seven minutes after the restart through a brilliant Bernardo Silva.

It was Kevin de Bruyne who played architect this time as he set up Silva nicely. Who else could have done that?

The Belgian proved his brilliance once again when he fired home from outside the box after a series of beautiful exchange of passes. What a goal!

The Belgian wasn’t done yet as his effort on goal was deflected off Kevin Long into his own net to make it 4-0. He can’t stop being a pain in Burnley’s butts, can he?

Kevin Long could have shot himself in the head after making another blunder. The defender gave up a silly penalty Sergio Aguero neatly tucked in from the spot to make it Manchester City’s third for the night.
