Manchester City vs Liverpool-EPL January 3, 2019, Preview and Scores

Hey folks! It’s matchweek 21, and it’s a cagey one, that one. A match-up talked about by all game lovers, book makers, tipsters, football pundits, sports analysts, FPL gamers and football enthusiasts. It’s a philosophy battle between the blue half of Manchester, the ‘noisy neighbors’ against a Reds team. Seven-points separate the two sides heading into the mouth-watering showdown with Liverpool on top of the pile.

Manchester City

Pre-season favourites, Man City, would never have seen themselves playing catch-up at this stage of the season. They are seven-point adrift of league leaders, Liverpool. City would host leaders in a potential League winner decider. City knowing that a loss here would potentially end their title dreams would go for a winner here.

Three defeats in five games including shock ones at Crystal Palace and Leicester have seen them play catch-up to Liverpool, disappointments they’ll be looking to overcome. Guardiola has been beaten seven times by a Klopp’s team-his most against any manager.

Although, a draw would see them leapfrog Spurs into second place. It is above all important that they come out of this tie with a win to keep their league hopes alive.

Liverpool

Liverpool are having the best run of form they could possibly manage. They’ve dropped only six points at this stage and still, remain unbeaten in the league. Equally important is that the Reds haven’t lost a game in 10 outings. In the light of this, it is worth noting that no team with such statistics at this stage has failed to win the league.

Albeit City have scored more goals (54), the Reds have scored 3 or more goals in their last six league games. What’s more intriguing about the Reds play is that they allowed only eight goals in between the sticks, half of City’s sixteen. The attacking threat they pose coupled with their strong defense could ensure them a win. Here’s a look at their current form.
