Manchester United Agree £80million Fee For Harry Maguire

Manchester United have reportedly agree a world-record £60 million plus £20 million in add-ons for Leicester defender, Harry Maguire.

And that will see him become the world’s most expensive defender, eclipsing a huge £75 million Liverpool forked out for former Southampton centre-back and Netherlands captain, Virgil Van Dijk.

Leicester City have also found a replacement for their outgoing defender in Brighton and Hove Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk with Brighton valuing him at £45 million.

Manchester United have beaten their city rivals to the signature of the England International.

Both Manchester clubs saw their £70 million bids rejected by the Foxes some weeks before Manchester United upped their bids to £80 million for the 100kg man.

This report comes only a few days after Maguire had accused the management at Leicester of pricing him out of a mega move to one of the EPL’s ‘Big Six’.

Jose Mourinho started the race for the signing of Maguire after a series of wonderful performances at the World Cup but wasn’t backed up to land the big man.

Leicester who landed the former Sheffield man for only £17 million in 2017 have now made an instant profit of £43 million in transfer with another £20 million to be made in add-ons.

The former Hull man became a father sometime in April after his wife, Fern gave birth to a daughter, only nine months after a series of colourful displays from England in the 2018 World Cup.

United who have promised to be busy this summer transfer window still remain relentless in their pursuit of Celtic’s Bruno Fernandes and Newcastle youngster, Sean Longstaff.

On the other hand, Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain with growing interests from abroad but United’s inability to find some other striker could force them to keep him.

If Maguire is signed, he could form rock solid defence partnership with any of Lindelof, Tuanzebe or Smalling, just the exact class of defense the Red Devils will need to challenge for a Champions League place and possibly the Premier League title.
