Manchester United Brush Aside Crystal Palace [Highlights]

Romelu Lukaku ended a goal drought to power a comfortable win over Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace with the Eagles struggling to get their first win in 20 games over Manchester United in the Premier League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be praised for the morale and magic he’s brought onto this team. For a team which Jose Mourinho had condemned to Europa league football at best, Gunnar has done the unthinkable.

With a long list of injured players which brandished nine names, they weren’t expected to score as many as three goals. Solskjaer was so cornered that he had to play Fred on the left of a diamond with his first-choice three-man line all condemned to the sidelines due to injuries.

Romelu Lukaku replacing Rashford who had an injury scare last time out wasn’t something the Norwegian gaffer could afford on a day with a full roster tucked behind him but Lukaku delivered with aplomb netting two goals in the process.

After Michy Batshuayi missed a good chance at the other end, Luke Shaw with his twinkle-toed run on the left flank cut inside and found Lukaku on the edge of the Palace area before the Belgian bent a shot past Vincent Guaita with his weaker foot.

United soon showed ominous ascendancy in the second forty-five and were soon rewarded for their enterprise when Ashley Young who played on the left wing whipped in a cross into the box with the ball finding Lukaku once again after Smalling and Lindelof were seen to play a bit of head tennis there.

The Belgian left no margin for error as he athletically scooped it into the net.

After Joel Ward scored his first goal at the other end in as much as three years, United were quick on the breakaway.

On one of such instances where Pogba made a few one-two exchange passes between them, Pogba pushed the ball to the left where Young ran along to sweep the ball beautifully into the net.
