Manchester United Close To Signing Daniel James | Solskjaer Speaks On Speculation

Manchester United are reportedly close to the signing of Daniel James for a sum in the neighbourhood of £15million.

The Swansea winger has been touted my many to be a future star with a pacey game that goes in line with the Manchester United philosophy Sir Alex Ferguson built upon.

However, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remained coy when asked about the red devils interest in Daniel James.

“I don’t know how many names have been mentioned since I’ve come in,

“There are players I’ve barely seen that I’ve read we are going to sign. There’s loads of speculation.”, Solskjaer said.

Manchester United is reported to be one of many clubs interested in signing 21-yr-old Daniel James this summer.

The red half of Manchester has been criticized lately for breaking the bank with a view to signing proven players in their prime – a decision that hasn’t been very much fruitful – rather than buying young promising talents.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer however thinks that the time has come for the club to go for young talents that could be developed as that is the Manchester United way.

The Norwegian gaffer made references to Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo who grew into great footballers while playing in the United Jersey.

He says Manchester United is going to be always known for developing players because they have the enabling environment for that.

“I don’t think we’ve ever been a ready made club – [Cristiano] Ronaldo was not ready made, [Wayne] Rooney was not ready made.

“Loads of players have come here and developed into the top superstars they’ve become.

“It’s always going to be the model here that we develop players because we have the best staff, the best environment, the best supporters, if there’s anything they love it’s players that excite them, players that get them off their seats and we hope to get some of them in.”
