Manchester United Close To Signing Mandzukic In January Transfer Window

Manchester United are confident they could land Mario Mandzukic in the January transfer window.

The Red devils are reportedly closing in on the signing of the target man.

The Old Trafford club are hopeful that a fee of £9million would be enough to turn the hands of Juventus in their favour with the Turin club desperate to sell off the Croatian.

The veteran striker is poised to sign an 18-month contract until the summer of 2021. The deal would mean that the striker would pocket a huge sum of earn a salary of £4.4m a year.

The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-led side have failed to score more than one goal since their 4-0 mauling of Chelsea in the opening game of the season.

Manchester United are currently wasting away at 12th on the Premier League standings and are in the market for a short-term option in attack to help pull them up the table.

Mandzukic has a had a terrific spell in Turin since his switch from Atletico Madrid in 2015. In that time, he’s won four Italian leagues, netting 44 league goals in 162 appearances.

The 33-year-old is now deemed surplus to the requirements at Juventus with new manager, Maurizio Sarri deeming him unsuitable to the style of play he is trying to establish at the club.

The former Bayern Munich star has failed to feature in any of Juve’s games this term and was left out of the Biaconeris Champions League squad.

The Biaconeris spent the latter half of the summer trying to offload the 33-year-old and offered him to the Red devils at the latter part of the transfer window.

There is a growing interest from China and the United States for the target man but the English club are confident they can get him instead.
