Manchester United Closer Than Ever To Sign Manolas

According to dailystar, Kostas Manolas is set to quit Roma and put pen to paper at Manchester United.

With Jose Mourinho as manager of United, centre-back position has been pointed as the greatest weakness of the team and has been top of the club’s transfer agenda ever since.

The club had gone on to submit offers for Harry Maguire, Toby Aldeiwereld and Kalidou Koulibaly. Although, the latter has shown his interest in moving to Manchester. Even so, Napoli’s president has maintained that the player is not up for sale. Manchester United are indeed hopeful that a deal could pull through in the summer

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, ManUnited’s Interim boss however insists he is happy with the current squad but would not object if it’s the board’s decision to bring in an extra player into the team.

The Red devils backline has already shipped in 32 goals in 21 league appearances this term. With this in mind, signing the right player at this point could save De Gea some headache.

The Greece International has a release clause in the region of £30.76 million. However, it doesn’t become active till this summer. The player had also talked up possibilities of playing in England back in July. In the interview the 27 year old said he was open to playing for big clubs such as Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United.

The 27-yr-old defender valued at £40.50m by transfermarkt has a strong knack for aerial duels. Identically, goals are on the list of strengths for him as he has already netted thrice for Roma this season.

Although, the 189cm tall, 83kg defender has made five appearances for Roma, he can still feature for the red devils in the Champions league and would make a good alternative to Bailly, Smalling, Jones and Lindelöf.

We however keep our hands crossed until a deal comes through.
