Manchester United Record Win Over Norwich Despite Missing Two Penalties

Manchester United got their first league win in a long while, making an emphatic statement against newly-promoted team, Norwich City.

The Red Devils recorded a 3-1 win despite failing to convert two penalties in the first forty-five minutes.

McTominay, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford were all on target. However, they could have extended the lead had they converted both VAR-awarded penalties.

The early minutes of the game showed that there was more in store at Carrow road, with plenty of attacking and entertaining football.

The hosts started on the front foot and created the first real threat in the fifth minute.

Max Aarons bundled down the left wing and his cross was met well by Todd Cantwell from the opposite flank.

United looked dangerous on the break, and with 18 minutes on the clock, Perreira drove at the defence and sent the ball Martial’s way.

The French winger then teed up Rashford but the Englishman’s shot was well saved by Tim Krul.

Krul stopped Martial minutes later but could do nothing to stand in the way of McTominay. The defensive midfielder reacted first to the ball after it was kept alive in Norwich’s box, created space for himself and fired right into the bottom corner for the first goal.

United pushed for more and deservedly won a penalty after a lengthy VAR review. Rashford stood to take the penalty but the kick was too easy for Krul to handle.

The Englishman didn’t let that lower his morale however, doubling the lead some minutes before the interval.

Fred tried a shot from outside the box after a corner was cleared but the ball had hit Cantwell’s arm within the box, a decision which was reached after a VAR review.

Martial stepped up to take the penalty but United were denied once again by a brilliant Krul.

Martial then got a goal of his own after the interval to make it three goals before Norwich proceeded to score a consolation goal.
