Manchester United Vs Paris Saint Germain UCL 12 February Review

It was a bad day at the office for Manchester United who were thumped 2-0 by French champions, Paris Saint Germain who were without the services of Thomas Meunier, Neymar and Edison Cavani.

United started on the front foot with Marcus Rashford attempting to play Jesse Lingard on but the ball was immediately cut off and therefore provided no real threat in the final third.

The first real chance fell to former Manchester United No.7, Angel Di Maria but his curled shot was not enough to trouble David de Gea.

United came back through Ashley Young but his cross-shot was deflected and forced Gianluigi Buffon to a save.

In a fairly balanced first half, four players were booked with Kimpembe, Draxler, Pogba, Young and Bernat recipients in the first 45 minutes.

Solskjaer was soon forced into stoppage time substitution with Alex Sanchez coming on for Lingard with the latter sustaining a muscle strain just few minutes after coming under a challenge.

Manchester United woes grew even more when Ole Gunnar was forced to make another substitution when Martial sustained what seems to be a hamstring injury with Juan Mata coming on for the French youngster.

The second half began with Rashford and Mata creating the first chance on the half but the former’s cross just whizzed through the box. Soon after, the referee was called once again into action and he gave out his 6th booking for the night for a Victor Lindelof foul on Mbappe.

Manchester United could not hold on any longer when few minutes before the hour mark, an Angel Di Maria’s cross was met by Presnel Kimpembe who headed home to score his first professional goal.

At the half-hour mark, Di Maria turned provider once again as he sent a cross into the box leaving the pacey Mbappe to latch onto the pass to slot home the second for the night.

It was more trouble for United when Pogba was sent-off for his second yellow of the night as they struggled to get on the scoresheet.
