Mane Says He Would Understand If The Season Was Voided

Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane insists he would completely understand if Liverpool were denied the chance of lifting the Premier League title.

The Merseyside outfit were only two wins away from lifting the Premier League for the first time in 30 years before the Coronavirus pandemic brought a sudden stop to the league.

Sitting atop second-placed Manchester City with as much as 25 points, with only nine games left to play, the Reds’ Premier League win is almost inevitable.

World football has been brought to a halt with the virus continuing to spread. It’s now unclear when whether or not the season will be completed.

While footballing authorities in some countries still remain hopeful that they can complete the campaign, Belgium have scrapped off the current season and many other leagues in Europe might follow suit.

However, UEFA sometime last week warned against League authorities scrapping off their leagues too early as they continue to look for ways by which league football could return soon. The European football governing body also denied suggestions that they has set June as the deadline for the Champions and Europa league competitions.

However, English Football Association chairman, Greg Clarke insists that the campaign might be voided as health concerns remain top priority.

Although Liverpool were the likeliest to win the league, Mane said he would understand if the campaign was cancelled.

“I want to win the games and I want to get the trophy, it’s what I would love,” the Champions League winner said to  talkSPORT.

“But with this situation, whatever happens I will understand.

“It has been difficult for Liverpool, but it has been more difficult for many millions of people around the world. Some people have lost family members and that is the more complicated situation.

“But for myself, it’s my dream and I want to win it this year.

“If that’s not the case, I will accept it, it’s part of life. Hopefully we will win it next year.”
