Mata Drags Manchester United To FA Cup 4th Round

Manchester United secured a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup on home ground, thanks to a goal by Juan Mata which helped them edge out Wolverhampton Wanderers by a 1-0 scoreline.

The Spaniard’s dink over the goalkeeper in the 67th minute was enough to cap a duel that had become too extended, spanning over two games.

A 0-0 draw at Molineux stadium forced a replay at Old Trafford where the Red devils managed to kick out Nuno Espirito Santos’ side.

United’s celebrations following Juan Mata’s goal were muted soon after, however by an injury to top scorer, Marcus Rashford.

With their next game coming up against domestic bitter rivals, Liverpool, United would be gutted to be missing Rashford in that encounter.

He now remains a doubt for the game, though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is optimistic he will be back just in time for the Super sunday game at Anfield.

They will however take the positive of progressing to the next round. The form of teenage left-back  Brandon Williams has also give many fans of the club reasons to smile.

The left-back has been impressive both in attack and defense for the Red devils and is turning out to be a real revelation in the squad.

To be frank, United were lucky to have gone through unscathed. Just inside of ten minutes, a VAR review disallowed a goal by Pedro Neto after the ball was thought to have bounced off the hands of Raul Jimenez.

Wolves came close once again when Doherty flicked his header onto the post from a corner kick.

Or perhaps, they weren’t. The Red devils also came close as the first half stats showed that there were only five shots on target in the first forty-five minutes with three of them coming from the home side.

However, it was Wolves who came the closest to scoring.
