Matteo Darmian Leaves United For Parma

Matteo Darmian has now successfully put an end to a difficult spell at Manchester United by signing for Parma.

The Italian right-back has now returned to his home land after agreeing to a four year deal that will see him remain at Parma till 2023.

Darmian who was last capped in 2017 was quoted by Sky Sports Italia as saying the move was an important one to revive his International career.

His appearances in England’s top flight waned from a huge 28 appearances in his first season to as little as six in his last at Old Trafford.

He becomes the fourth among other players who made a move to the Serie A in recent weeks. The attacking duo of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan while Chris Smalling secured a loan move to Roma.

Parma who are at this time, ninth on the Serie A standings reportedly paid a £1.4million fee to sign the 29 year old.

Darmian was signed by former Manchester United and Barcelona gaffer, Louis Van Gaal from Serie A side, Torino for a reported fee of £12.7million in 2015.

The Italian went on to help United to an FA Cup victory making a total 92 appearances for the Red devils.

The 29 year old’s contract which is to expire in 2020 has played only 13 times for the club since as far back as December 2017.

With this move, it can be said that United gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally submitted to the groaning of the defender who declared his interest in leaving Old Trafford 12 months ago.
