Messi Breaks Two Records Against Slavia Prague Including Ronaldo’s

Lionel Messi is on the headlines yet again, and like always, it’s for good reasons. The Barcelona talisman made more Champions league record when his side ushered into the pitch against Slavia Prague, smashing some records in the process.

Messi – who scored the first goal on the encounter just inside of the third minute and inspired the second, scored by Luiz Suarez – became the first player to score in 15 consecutive seasons of the elites’ tournament.

The Argentina International was also on the books for equalling an impressive record held by his long-standing rival, Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Real Madrid legend, Raul Gonzalez.

With the Argentine having put the visitors ahead in the early minutes of the game, it looked like they were running away with a win and better still, a dominating.

However, the hosts levelled matters just after halftime before an own goal forced by Luis Suarez gifted all three points to Ernesto Valverde’s men.

Barcelona have now leaped to the top of Group F, three points above second-placed Borussia Dortmund, recording seven points from their last three games.

The German side were stung by their Italian opponents, Inter Milan, by a 2-0 scoreline.

Argentina’s Lautaro Martinez scored for the fourth successive game with 22 minutes on the clock before Antonio Candreva came down on Dortmund on the break in the closing moments.

Chelsea are also inches away from the knockout stages as a goal from Michy Batshuayi made sure of them parting with all three points in their game against Ajax in Amsterdam.

Victory in Amsterdam was their sixth successive win across and competitions and has moved them level with their Ajax counterparts at the summit of Group H.

La Liga side, Valencia were prevented from joining both Chelsea and Valencia on 6 points as they played out a 1-1 draw with Lille.
