There is chaos in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State, as several explosions rocked the city in the late hours of Tuesday, June 13th, 2017. The explosion which caused a great scare in the state has been traced to the military. According to some sources, the military were alleged to be conducting a controlled testing of their military equipment.
This explosion which made the citizens of Maiduguri panic and left them wondering if this was another attack by the dreaded terrorist sect, Boko Haram. However, some eye witnesses took to Twitter to report the explosion stating that the act was not perpetrated by Boko Haram. They went ahead to state that some military men in that region of Maiduguri were testing their military equipments and the explosion was as a result of that. This made the residents of the city to be at ease.
Athough recently, Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the terrorist sect in northern Nigeria called Boko Haram released a new video in celebration of the frequent terrorist attack in Maiduguri and promised that the attacks will continue until his conditions are met. And not too long ago, some media houses reported that there were simultaneous attacks in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno. However, the army claimed that the attacks were stopped and that the three terrorists had been killed.
Abubakar Shekau however released another video to deny the alleged killing of his men. He went ahead to say that the attack was victorious as ever. In the video which was 23 minutes long, Shekau spoke in Hausa and said that the democratic system of government and western education were sinful, and as long as they were still in practice, the series of attacks will continue.
