Nasarawa Gov-elect lauds Buhari, Pledges to Implementation New Minimum Wage

  • Sule says new minimum wage law is a new dawn for Nigerian workers.
  • Promises to implement it as soon as he takes over in May 29.

Engr. Abdulahi Audu Sule, the Nasarawa state governor- Elect, has reacted to the new minimum wage law on Friday, applauding President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the bill into Law and pledged to implement it in Nasarawa state after he is sworn in as governor.

In a statement signed by Sanusi Aliyu, media aide to the Governor-Elect in Lafia on Friday, Eng. Sule described the act as a testament to the fact that the president prioritizes the welfare of Nigerian workers and is always ready to ensure the right conditions are in place for them.

iDONSABI reported that President Buhari on Thursday signed the Minimum Wage Repeal and Re-enactment Bill 2019 into law.

This was revealed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Sule who also described the new minimum wage law as a ‘new dawn’ for workers said it shows that the president is willing to take every necessary step to motivate them.

“His Excellency, Governor-Elect of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule wishes to commend President Buhari for signing the New Minimum Wage Bill into Law.

“The act is a testament to the fact that our patriotic and beloved President prioritizes the welfare of Nigerian workers and is always ready to ensure the right conditions are in place for them.”

He also said that the step taken by President Buhari will not only go a long way in assisting workers in meeting certain needs but will also strengthen the relationship between employers and employees and motivate improved productivity.

The governor-elect, therefore, promised to follow in the footsteps of the president by implementing the new wage structure for workers in the state.

“This is an opportunity to reassure workers in the state that Nasarawa state will also enjoy the new minimum wage signed into law by the President. Other welfare issues, pensions, gratuities and so on will be adequately attended to.

” Workers should take advantage of this gesture by redoubling their efforts towards achieving our collective goals and making Nigeria a better place for all,’’ the statement added.
