NBA Finals – Raptors Claim Game 1 In Toronto

It would have been impossible to think Toronto Raptors would claim the game 1 tie against two-time reigning champions, Golden State Warriors and more so, someone other than Kawhi Leonard be the star of the show but that’s what transpired in this thrilling NBA Finals game 1 match-up.

What happened in Toronto on Thursday night is the definition of crazy.

Pascal Siakam did a great impression of Kawhi, with a career play-off high of 32 points in a 118-109 win against the Warriors in front of a sellout crowd of 19,983.

Pascal didn’t just drop 32 points on a team that boasts the greatest number of all-star players in the league at the moment but also made 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks. He was a complete beast on the night.

This is the first victory for a Canadian team in the NBA finals. It was a milestone for a team, a city and a country.

Raptors are 1-0 up in the finals and for the first time in a long while, Kawhi wasn’t the spectacle but Pascal Siakam. Infact, Leonard had managed only 23 points.

The crowd were loud all game shouting DE-FENCE and cheering their stars in Danny Green and Kyle Lowry. Green who was red hot for the night went home with 11 points with 3 for 7 beyond the arc.

Warriors struggled without an injured Kevin Durant and in the post-game interview the trio of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green looked more than stunned. They were upset.

But that was only Game 1. Maybe the Warriors were a bit rusty following the long lay-off. Just maybe

Raptors were excellent from the start and weren’t going to get intimidated by the shooting Splash brothers.

Indeed, if it weren’t for the 34 points scored by Steph Curry this would have been a rout, a complete annihilation of that team put together by Almighty Steve Kerr.
