Neil Lennon Appointed Celtic Manager On Permanent Basis After Domestic Treble

Neil Lennon has been appointed Celtic manager on a permanent basis after leading the Scot giants to a domestic treble whilst managing the club on an interim basis.

Celtic completed a domestic treble with a thrilling 2-1 William Hill Scottish Cup final win over Hearts at Hampden Park.

Following that win, the club has confirmed that Lennon, who took charge in February after Brendan Rodgers left for Leicester CIty, have rewarded the boss with the job on a permanent basis.

Celtic made this announcement via their Twityer handle which read:

“We are delighted to announce that Neil Lennon has been offered the job as permanent Celtic FC manager and the details will be confirmed in the coming days.”

The Scottish champions came back from a goal down to defeat Hearts in the Scottish Cup final to clinch the triple treble on Saturday afternoon.

The green and white stripes have now won all three domestic trophies available comprising of the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup for the third consecutive year (triple treble).

Celtic who sealed their eighth consecutive league title earlier this month won the League Cup in December, beating Aberdeen 1-0 in the final.

“You’ll never see this again,” Celtic boss Neil Lennon, who succeeded Rodgers in February, told the BBC.

“In footballing parlance, it’s impossible (to put this into words). That’s nine trophies out of nine, it’s remarkable.”

Ryan Edwards gave Hearts the lead in the 52nd minute, scaring Celtic to their marrow but a brace from Odsonne Edouard – with the second goal a penalty – secured the title for Celtic and a spot for them in the history books.

Brendan Rodgers on the other hand failed to take Leicester City through to Europe after failing to climb over Wolverhampton Wanderers into seventh-place.

However, since the arrival of Rodgers, Leicester City have upped their performances and have now made King Power Stadium a fortress where they win about every game.
