Newcastle United Salvage A Draw Against Bournemouth

Two goals from Joshua King wasn’t enough to see Bournemouth stroll past Newcastle as the Magpies pegged back their opponents on the heels with two goals from Salomon Rondon and Matt Richie.

Jordon Ibe clipped Miguel Almiron on his heels from behind when the January signing took the ball goal-bound on the break.

From the resulting freekick, Salomon Rondon beautifully stroked the ball into the top right corner far and beyond the reach of Boruc to take the Magpies above the Clarets on goal difference.

Mike Dean took centre stage three minutes into the second half when he ordered a penalty for a foul on Nathan Ake by Federico Fernandez.

King stepped up to the occasion and sent Dubravka the wrong way to score his fifth goal in his last five home games and place his side on level terms with Newcastle.

From the next corner, Chris Mempham almost put the Cherries ahead but looped his header just wide off the upright.

Matt Richie was a whisker away from getting a goal for himself as he got a toe to the Rondon’s shot across goal but didn’t quite make the mark.

There was nothing for the two teams with the game entering into its final ten minutes but Solanke held on to the ball, twisted and turned in the 18-yard box before teeing up King to tuck into the left corner of the post.

ManUnited gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be the only Norwegian to have scored more goals than Joshua King as it stands.

Just like they had done in the first half, Newcastle once more showed that they still had that element of surprise in them when Matt Richie struck a swirling ball into the roof of the net after collecting a cross from DeAndre Yedlin.

Bournemouth 2-2 Newcastle United it ended.
