Newcastle United Vs Manchester City EPL 29 January Preview

Newcastle United will welcome Manchester City to the St. James Park in what would be a tough test for the Magpies. This is so because the Magpies have been flirting with the relegation zone all season and playing against a high scoring team like Manchester City could spell doom for their morale in the long run.

Newcastle United

Newcastle were knocked out of the FA Cup by Watford on Saturday with the Premier league the only competition left for them to play in.

More disturbing is that they have won just 12 home league games so far this season and don’t look any likely to pull off any upset against title holders, Manchester City. Infact, they have the third-worst home scoring record in the league this term making it all the more difficult to pull off an upset against Manchester City.

Manchester City

The Citizens 5-0 victory over Burnley in the FA Cup over the weekend not only saw the club win their eighth consecutive game but also sees them in contention for all trophies available for a top English side.

City has been hugely intimidating in front of goal netting a mammoth 30 goals and conceding just one in their last 7 games with the one goal coming against league leaders, Liverpool – not forgetting that by stats this is Sergio Aguero’s favourite opponent.

There’s simply no way Newcastle are coming out of this one unscathed.

Team News

Despite left-back Benjamin Mendy – who’s being out for ten weeks – making a come-back against Burton, the prodigy was missing in the starting line-up against Burnley due to a knee problem, hence, is likely to be out in the contest against the Magpies.

On the flip side, it is Ki Sung-Yeung who remains out in the clash against the Citizens.
