1. Dino Melaye Denies Booing Buhari During Budget Presentation

Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye has come out to deny social media reports that said he was among lawmakers who booed President Buhari President Buhari during his 2019 budget presentation.

Some lawmakers had booed Buhari while presenting the 2019 National Budget on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.

But Melaye, a senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District said claims alleging his involvement in booing Buhari during the budget presentation were untrue as he was even absent in the event.

The senator, who was still recuperating in a police hospital in Abuja, said his rebuttal was not born out of fear but a clarification of facts. He challenged anyone with a proof that he booed Buhari to provide evidence.

2. I Dreamt in 2012 That I Married Funke Akindele

Funke Akindele’s hubby, JJC has revealed that he had a dream in December 2012 that he would get married to the actress and 4-years later, in 2016, it happened.

The couple had recently welcomed their twin baby boys in December, last year.  According to Funke’s hubby, “It’s important to pay attention to your dreams because they could be telling you things you need to know”.

He continued, “I have to testify, God is great. I had a dream one night around Christmas 2012 that I will be married to Funke Aakindele and believing in the mighty God I trust, I approached and she didn’t believe me”.

“A week of romance Ended, we broke up and I wrote this song to send a message of what is to come. My God has never lied or lead me astray. A year later she had a calling to find me and so the story continues. The Master architect is at work”.

3. Buhari Mourns Late Aisha Lemu

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep shock over the death of one Aisha Ahmed Lemu, describing her as “a repository of knowledge whose depth of scholarship was overwhelming and enviable.”

According to President Buhari, “she admirably dedicated her life to scholarship and moral uplifting of her society, producing massive literature on religious education during her remarkable life on earth.”

The President explained that, “as a Western woman who converted to Islam, Mrs. Lemu had demonstrated that knowledge was not about inheritance, but about curiosity, enthusiasm and dedication to expand our intellectual horizons.”

Aisha Lemu was a British-born author and religious educator who converted to Islam in 1961 and lived most of her life in Nigeria. She died on 5th January, 2019 in Minna, Niger State, Nigeria.

4. Nigerians Spent N359 Million in Cinemas over the Christmas Season

Reports say a total of N359 million was spent by movie lovers across Nigeria in cinemas between December 21 and 27. This is according to data provided by the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria.

The five highest-grossing movies in the cinemas over the festive  period were Aquaman, Chief Daddy, Bumblebee, Animated Spider -Man and God Calling.

Aquaman grossed N168, 434,137 while Chief Daddy grossed N101, 979,343. King of Boys, Lionheart, Mary Poppins Returns, Mortal Engines and Grinch made up the other half of the top 10.

Cinemas across the country recorded N166, 996,007 between December 28 and 30. The five highest-grossing movies were Aquaman, Chief Daddy, Up North, Bumblebee and Lionheart during this period.

A total of N682.2 million was spent in cinemas between December 14 and December 30 on movies alone, not including money spent on drinks and popcorn.

As at November 15, Merry Men, the movie produced by Ayo Makun popularly known as AY, was ranked the highest-grossing movie with a total income of N230m.

According to the Group Executive Director, Filmhouse Cinemas,Moses Babatope,  King of Boys has accounted for 45 per cent of the market share since it opened.

5.  Lalong is Sponsoring “Third Force”  – PDP Boss

Mr Damishi Sango, Chairman, Plateau chapter of the PDP, has accused Gov Simon Lalong of sponsoring someone he termed as a “third force’’ in the state’s governorship race.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that a “third force’’, outside the APC and the PDP, has emerged to challenge for the Plateau governorship seat, with retired Brig. Gen. Jon Temlong of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), as its candidate”.

NAN also reports that many other political parties, outside the PDP and APC, have merged into the new fold, with their candidates queuing behind the ADP to battle the incumbent APC candidate, and prevent its predecessor, the PDP, from regaining power.

6. Details of Tinubu’s Meeting With Wammako

The National Leader of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, met with former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko over the weekend, behind closed doors in Sokoto state.

Tinibu’s visit became pertinent for the APC amidst uncertainty over rumours that Wammako’s was planning a defection back to the PDP where he had won election twice as governor.

Tinibu in his statement during the visit, described Wamakko as a strong pillar behind the APC and its presidential candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari especially in the Northwest region.

“I believe Sokoto is safe. We just need to get more votes out so that we can help absorb other areas of weakness. Nigeria will make progress as it is already on a solid foundation built by leaders like Wamakko. We will always be with him,” Tinubu explained.

7. Senator Umeh Reveals That Anambra Will Join Oil-Producing States

The Senator representing Anambra Central senatorial zone, Senator Victor Umeh has assured Anambrarians that the state will soon join the league of oil producing states in the country with full entitlements.

The senator announced that the Senate committee on petroleum sector(upstream) was working to resolve the dispute between Anambra and her neighbours, Kogi and Enugu states, who are now laying claims to oil deposits in the state.

He said, “It (boundary crisis) has come up at the national assembly once and was referred to the senate committee on petroleum sector (upstream), which I am also a member.

8. Hoodlums Set Over 20 Houses, Shops on Fire in Gang Clash

Some hoodlums from Ibadan Oyo State who are yet to be identified has on Sunday January 6th set over 20 houses on fire in the early hours of the morning in what was described as a clash between two rival gangs in the area.

Parts of affects structures was fashion designers’ shops, soft drinks sellers’ shops, houses, electronics shops, frozen foods’ shop, cooking materials sellers’ shops, clothing retailers’ shop among others. It was gathered that the attack was a fall out of several clashes between the rival groups and the loss could have been worse if not for stiff resistance from some local vigilance groups and other residents from the areas.

9. I Faked My Own Death – Video Vixen

Earlier before now, a young video vixen identified simply as Wendy, allegedly bled to death and accusing fingers were pointed at her lover, Best Jide, who was said to have used her for ritual purposes.

Well, a new video has surfaced online disproving that she was died.

However, the Ms Wendy in question made some shocking revelations of how her lover used a handkerchief to wipe her privates after they made love and her stomach began to swell.

Ms Wendy said during that time, the guy, Best Jide sent her back home. She also revealed she dreamt her lover used her for ritual, a dream a pastor also confirmed to be true.

According to her story, she had to publicize her own death so as to blow off heat from Best Jide who was still trying to conclude his plans of using her for rituals. A plan she said worked as she survived.

10. Jennifer Atiku Says PDP Government Has Great Plans for Education

Jennifer Atiku, wife of the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku said if elected back to power in 2019, the PDP will ensure an uninterrupted education calendar.

Atiku said that a PDP government would ensure that students who are presently out of school due to the lingering ASUU strike get back to their studies.

According to her, a PDP government would create an environment for business to thrive with a view to ensuring that the citizens were lifted out of poverty.

Mrs. Jenifer Atiku gave the assurance in her remarks at the flag-off ceremony of the Edo Central Senatorial campaigns by the party on Sunday in Uromi, Esan north east LGA of Edo state.
