1. MC Oluomo Discharged from Hospital, Travels Abroad

A chieftain of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya a.k.a MC Oluomo was said to have been discharged from a Lagos hospital, where he was receiving treatment.

MC Oluomo was attacked at theAPC rally in Ikeja on January 8 and was rushed to Eko Hospital, following injuries he sustained.

A very reliable source, who didn’t want his name revealed that the NURTW leader may have travelled to the United States , following his discharge on Tuesday night.

The Lagos State Police Command had said it arrested some suspects and also declared another NURTW chieftain wanted over the commotion caused at the APC Lagos rally.

2. IOM Decries killing of IDPs and Destruction of Hub

The International Organization for Migration, IOM said it is appalled by Monday’s attack in Rann, Borno State, in which four Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs were killed and damage done to the IOM Humanitarian Hub in the state.

IOM in a statement from its Press Office said the attack began around 4pm and is the third in Rann by non-state armed groups since March 2018.

According to the IOM Regional Director Richard Danziger, “We are devastated to learn of this attack and the senseless loss of life”.

Rann hosts 76,389 IDPs, who had fled terrorists attacks in their communities, which has displaced over two million people in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States in the last decade.

3. Oil prices Stable Amidst Supply Cuts

Oil prices have stabilized on Wednesday after soaring by about 3% in the previous session as expectations that OPEC-led supply cuts would tighten markets despite signs of a global economic slowdown.

Brent crude oil futures LCOc1 were at 60.83 dollars per barrel at 0748 GMT, 19 cents, or 0.3% above their last close. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures CLc1 were up 10 cents, or 0.2%, at 52.21 dollars a barrel.

4. Akeredolu Loans N50m to Ondo Artisans for Expansion of Vocational Work

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has given out a loan sum of N50m to artisan group in the state to enable them expand their vocational activities.

Akeredolu announced this recently at the 2019 Artisans’ Day celebration, Ondo State branch.

He said his administration was highly committed to creating an enabling environment for the artisans to thrive in the state.

The N50m loan given by the State Micro Credit Agency as directed by Governor Akeredolu is expected to serve the artisan community in areas of training, expansion of their activities among others.

5. ASUU Accuses LASU MGT of Planning Sabotage

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Lagos State University chapter accused the management of Lagos State University, LASU of planning to disrupt its congress.

But in a swift reaction, LASU accused the union of trying to whip up public sentiment.

A statement by the union’s Secretary, Tony Dansu, said that it has come to the attention of ASUU-LASU executive committee that some suspended members of the Union were being mobilized by the University Administration to attend Congress tomorrow.

However, ASUU-LASU said it gathered information that the sole aim of the mobilization was to plan a sabotage of the scheduled ASUU congress.

6. What God Showed Prophet Fufeyin About 2019 Elections

The prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin of the Christ Mercyland, Warri has urged Nigerians to pray against violence, death, and destruction during the forthcoming election.

According to him, he saw the blood of innocent Nigerians everywhere crying.

Fufeyin said, “This is the time religious leaders, irrespective of their position have to come all out boldly in one accord to pray for the 2019 February elections against killings of innocent citizens.”

7. Islamic Group Gives Reasons Why CJN Must Leave Office

The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC has given reasons why allowing the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, to remain in office as the Chief Justice of Nigeria could be disastrous to Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the founder, Professor Ishaq Akintola on Wednesday, MURIC sounded a note of warning, asking Onnoghen’s sympathizers to allow the FG handle the case of the CJN now before it infects the whole system.

According to the froup, “Judicial corruption fuels impunity. It is the worst type of corruption because that is where we go when the system is corrupt.”

8. Nigeria’s First Storey Building Garnered 13,609 Visitors in 2018

According to Mr. Hodonu Daniel, the officer in charge of the building, the first storey building in Nigeria located in Badagry, Lagos State, recorded 13,609 visitors in 2018.

Daniel said that the number of tourists that visited the 172-year-old structure was higher than the 9,009 recorded in 2017.

Reports have it that the foundation of the building was laid in 1842 and was completed in 1845.

9. Lagos State sign MOU on Infrastructure, Revenue Generation with IFC

The Lagos State Government and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have sealed a major partnership deal to enhance provision of infrastructure in key sectors of the state.

The State’s Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, in a statement on Wednesday, said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the partnership dated January 7, 2019 had already been signed.

According to him, the partnership would go a long way in helping to scale up municipal infrastructure, increase revenues and generally make life more comfortable to residents of the State.

10. Banky W Breaks Silence on ‘Beef’, Says Wizkid is His Younger Brother

Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W has finally addressed reports of an alleged beef between him and Wizkid

Reports had it that Banky W was not in good terms with Wizkid after the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer missed his wedding to Adesua.

But, reacting, Banky W in an interview said his relationship with Wizkid is still good. He addressed Wizkid as his younger brother.

11. Average Price of Petrol Drops to N145.80 per Litre — NBS

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS report released on Tuesday, the average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) decreased by -15.1% year-on-year and -1.1per cent month-on-month to N145.80 in December 2018 from N147.50 in November 2018.

Although the report did not provide explanation, investigations showed that the fall in price was as a result of the drop in the price of crude oil from $85 to about $50 during the period.

As a result of that, refiners paid less for crude oil, leading to the fall in the price of petrol, large number barrels of which is still imported into Nigeria from the global market.
