The Parents and Teachers Association, PTA, has commended the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, over plans to begin the seal-off of illegal schools in the state.

The Governor, at a forum organized by the state government last weekend, had said in bid to sensitise the education sector in the state, his administration has concluded plan to close down all primary and secondary schools found to be operating illegally.

It was gathered that the close-down of illegal schools in the state would begin from January, 2019.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency into the House of Representatives, Rev. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, has asked the Inspector General of Police to investigate another chieftain of the party, whom he defeated during the primaries over alleged forgery and theft of his documents

Waive, in a petition to the IGP by his lawyers, alleged that his opponent was responsible for the theft of his Expression of Interest Forms and document from the APC National Headquarters prior to his screening for the party’s primary.

The Chairman, Campaign Council for Gov. Aminu Masari re-election, Mr Mustapha Inuwa, says candidates of opposition political parties in Katsina State only exist on billboards.

Inuwa said this during the flag-off of the campaign for the re-election of the governor in Funtua on Saturday.

The chairman, therefore, urged the people of the state to come out en masse to vote for the party’s candidates during the elections.

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered an interim forfeiture of the controversial $2.8 million, which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission seized last week from the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

In granting the prayer made by the EFCC for interim forfeiture of funds, the court asked EFCC to publish the order in national newspapers in accordance with appropriate laws.

The order comes despite strong protest by Bankers Warehouse, which has claimed ownership of the huge cash and has asked the anti-graft agency to urgently return the money and tender an unreserved apology for the seizure.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday asked the Igbo to be wary of promises from the All Progressives Congress ahead of next year’s general elections.

Obasanjo, who spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting at Ukpor in the Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, said the APC had no plans to hand over the presidency of the country to the Igbo.

He urged the Igbo to take their destiny in their hands by getting united in the 2019 general elections and make a mark.

The Peoples Democratic Party and the Coalition of United Political Parties have condemned the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria’s endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid for a second term in office.

The association’s endorsement came during its 5th General Meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

Residents of Abule Egba have accused the police of conniving with the vandals that ruptured the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation pipeline in the area to steal fuel from the facility.

Some of them specifically alleged that policemen, who were informed of the presence of suspected vandals around mid-night in the Abule Egba area, made light of the tip-off before dismissing one of the informants.
