You Lack Moral Ground To Criticize Me, Ortom Tells Jime

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Tuesday  said  that the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC in the state, Emmanuel Jime lacks the moral ground to criticize him on issues relating to governance and private investments.

Ortom was reacting to Jime’s claim that governor Samuel Ortom was using his office to boost his personal business.


2019 General Elections: NHRC Moves To Gauge Hate Speech, Fake News

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has commenced administering questionnaires, through its state offices to gauge the incidence of hate speech, fake news and electoral violence throughout the six geopolitical zones in the country.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Tony Ojukwu, who disclosed this while speaking at an interface with key regulators and stakeholders on hate speeches, fake news and election violence held in Abuja on Tuesday said, findings from the survey will enable the Commission to put up directive or an advisory on hate speeches, fake news and electoral violence, with a view to creating an enabling environment for free and fair 2019 general elections.


Elections: 175 Officials Of Opposition Parties Defect To APC In Adamawa

Over 173 members of various opposition parties, including PDP, SDP, ADC and others have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) party from Toungo LGA area of Adamawa state.

The defectors who decided their loyalty for APC because of Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Mohammed who has done development for the area.


Man, Wife In Court Over Alleged Theft Of Motor Spare Parts

A couple, Okechukwu Anaka and Chinwe Anaka, were on Tuesday arraigned at an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court over an alleged theft of vehicle spare parts at a mechanic shop in Ilorin.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Al-Hassan Jubril told the court that the accused persons were arrested on Jan. 17 at the scene of the crime in the Adewole neighbourhood of Ilorin with a Honda Odyssey car; with registration number, Lagos AGL 174CE.

He said that when the car was searched, some motor vehicle springs and motor vehicle shock absorbers, as well as two big pipes, were recovered.


2019 Elections: We Have Factored In Interest Of PLWD ― Osun REC

Ahead of the conduct February 2019 general elections, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun, Mr Olusegun Agbaje on Tuesday said the umpire has factored in the interest of People Living With Disabilities (PLWD).

He disclosed that special arrangements have been put in place make voting process easier for the PLWD, taking into consideration their condition.

Agbaje made these disclosures in Osogbo, Osun State at an interactive forum with PLWDs as part of the preparation for next month elections.

Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Delta South, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has reiterated that his focus at his campaigns ahead of the general elections are tailored on issues rather than individuals.

He made the clarification while refuting a report that he adduced his reason for defecting from the PDP to APC due to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s refusal to listen to wise counsel.


ASUU/ASUP Strike: Police Warn NANS Over Plans Of Mass Protest In Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has warned members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) zone ‘B’ not to block the head bridge during their planned mass protest tagged “Operation No movement “aimed at registering their displeasure over the perceived delay in resolving the ongoing strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) across institution of learning in the country.

The PPRO of the state command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed this in a press statement said during the protests, members of NANS has plan to occupy the Head Bridge Onitsha, which is the gateway to the South East and other parts of South-South geopolitical zones thereby, paralyzing vehicular movements and economic activities in the State.


Buhari Now Ruling With His Army Uniform ― Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus on Tuesday declared that President Muhammadu Buhari “is now full-blown dictator with his true colour now out for all to see.”

Prince Secondus who was speaking at the party’s rally in Yenogua, Bayelsa State as the PDP Presidential campaign train arrived South-South states, said that since “a chameleon cannot change its colour, Buhari has now shown his true colour.”

According to him: “The President has put on his Army uniform and is busy breaking the constitution, which is the soul of our nationhood.”


Go All Out To Vote Buhari, APC Candidates, Afenifere Mandates Yorubas

Pan Yoruba group, Afenifere (Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba), on Tuesday, asked all Yorubas to go all out to vote President Muhammadu Buhari and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election.

This mandate followed a voice vote by attendees at a Pan Yoruba summit held at the University of Ibadan, in favour of a motion for the reelection of Buhari moved by Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye and other Afenifere leaders across the six states of the South West.


I Won’t Probe Previous Govt, It Slows Down Administration ― Makinde

The gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Oyo state, Mr Seyi Makinde has debunked any insinuations that his administration will probe the current administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi if voted Into power.

Makinde stated this while answering questions from representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jobele, Afijio local government area, Oyo state, on Tuesday.
