Nigeria U-20 Team Miss Flight Back Home In Protest Of Unpaid Bonuses

Nigeria’s U-20 team have reportedly refused to vacate their hotel in Poland over a bonus row following their elimination from the World Cup by Senegal in the round of 16 stage of the competition according to a report by owngoalnigeria.com

Players of the Flying Eagles have insisted on the payment of their bonuses before leaving their hotel and have already deliberately missed their flight back home.

The players were scheduled to return to Nigeria on Tuesday morning but missed their flight after refusing to leave their hotels before payment of their bonuses.

According to the report, pleas from the team officials fell on deaf ears as the players maintained their stand.

It remains to be seen how soon enough the issues will be resolved and the team return back into the country.

The Nigeria U-20 team made a good start to the competition, running riot over Qatar in their first game with a 4-0 scoreline.

They however succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to United States in their second encounter before forcing Ukraine to a 1-1 draw to secure a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

The Flying Eagles have now crashed out of the competition following a 2-0 loss to Senegal.

The U-20 world cup still eludes the Nigerian team having won the U-17 and U-23 age grade competitions.
