1. Buhari Reveals Why He is Slow in Fighting Corruption

President Buhari says his administration is slow in fighting corruption because the system is slow.

The president said this when he received the FCT community, who paid him Christmas homage at his Aso Rock residence on Tuesday.

President Buhari, while reacting to accusations that his administration was slow in tackling the nation’s problems as regarding corruption, insecurities and terrorism said: “It’s not Baba (Buhari) that is slow but it is the system”.

2. Sanusi says Football in Nigeria will have Better Days in 2019

The General Secretary of NFF, Mohammed Sanusi, has on Tuesday in Abuja said he believes that there are better days ahead for Nigeria’s football.

Sanusi said that in spite of several ups and downs the federation has faced in 2018, he was optimistic of a blissful football season in the country in 2019.
Sanusi commended Nigerians for supporting football in 2018, adding that their love for football was unequaled.

3. Lagos MfBs Request  to Create Special Court to Address Bad Loans

The National Association of Microfinance Banks, Lagos State Chapter, NAMBLag, has written a letter to Lagos State Government requesting that a special court be created to address the challenges of Non Performing Loans, NPL, among their customers who are mainly small scale businesses.

This was made known by the NAMBLag Chairman, Mr. Omololu Fatunbi, who said that the letter has been submitted to the Office of the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Lagos State.

4. Police Nab 3 Suspects for Murder of Corp Member in Nasarawa

The Police in Nasarawa State have arrested three suspects for alleged murder of an NYSC member in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

The Corp Member, Samuel Makene, was murdered at the residence of Emmanuel Ombugadu, a PDP Governorship Candidate during a political gathering in his residence.

The deceased was murdered on Dec. 20, and was buried on December 23.

5. Police Deny Plans to Arrest and Inject Melaye

The Police at Force Headquarters on Wednesday have denied the allegation of Senator Dino Melaye that the Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris has given orders for him to be arrested and be injected to death.

While denying that such plan to arrest nor kill Senator Melaye exist, the Police described Dino’s allegation as hate speech aimed at putting the force into disrepute.

6. Ganduje’s Govt Destroys 30 Truck-loads of Beer

The Kano State government’s Hisbah Board has seized and destroyed more than 30 trailer loads of beer.

The board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Adamu Yahaya, announced this in a statement in Kano yesterday.

Yahaya said that the cartons of beer were destroyed on Monday evening after interception because the manufacture and use of alcohol is banned in the state.

7. I know I Don’t have Big Buttocks- Tiwa Savage

Nigerian pop star, Tiwa Savage, has continued her twitter fight with fellow top star, Yemi Alade.

Yemi started the fight when she took to her Twitter handle to throw shots at an unnamed person who always photo shops her bum to deceive her fans on the social media.

In a series of tweets afterwards, Tiwa admitted that she of a truth does not have big butts, but maintained that every artist, including Yemi Alade, edit their pictures.

8. Fallen Tanker Inferno Burns Buildings and Kills 3 People in Port Harcourt

An inferno from a fallen petroleum tanker has burnt down buildings and shops and also left 3 people dead around MOPOL-19, G.R.A Phase 4, Port Harcourt.

Eyewitnesses said the tanker had spilled its content into the gutters extending from Rumuola to MOPOL-19 and burned from the gutters, torched shops around Rumoula and stretched to G.R.A Phase 4 to burn houses.

Those affected by the inferno that destroyed houses and shops around Rumuola and MOPOL-19 area of Port Harcourt have blamed the slow response of the Rivers state Fire Service for the level of damage done by the fire.

9. Delta Consumers Protest Against BEDC Over One year Electricity Outage

Electricity consumers in Warri, Delta State Wednesday protested the over one year power outage in their areas.

The protesters, who were mainly women and youths, from Idiaregbe, parts of Okere-Ugborikoko road, Okolobeh and Omosihwofa Streets in Warri matched through major streets in the town to the Office of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, to protest distribution company’s “delay tactics” in installing two new transformers in their area.

The peaceful protesters demanded the installation of two new transformers at Idiaregbe and Omosohwofa Streets with a view to restoring power to the affected areas.

Leader of the protesters, Evang. Richard Okoro said the affected streets have lost both economic and social fortunes due to blackout in the area for the past one year.

10. Buba Galadima Says Buhari has Already ‘Handed Over’ to Atiku

The spokesperson of the PDP, Campaign Organization, Alhaji Buba Galadima has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has already given up on his quest to returning to office come May 29, 2019.

Galadima insisted that Buhari will not be the President to be sworn in on May 29.

Appearing on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Galadima said that by the next Democracy Day in Nigeria, Buhari would have handed over to Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate.
