Nigerian Police Force affirms readiness for 2019 General Election

– Nigerian Police Force NPF disclosed it is ready for the 2019 General Election

– The NPF noted that it is ready to provide security and safe environment in the coming election

In preparation of the 2019 General Election slated to commence on the 16th of February, the Nigerian Police Force NPF has affirmed it readiness to maintain internal security in the country.

The NPF in it statement discloses that there have been several meetings between the Inspector General of Police IGP, Mohammed Adamu Abubakar and other security agencies.

Also, the IGP has met with other stakeholders in the election which include the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, traditional rulers among others.

All of this according to the police will help them to provide adequate security and safe environment during the 2019 General Election.

The Police made it known that the agency is aware of it lead role in the coming election as it affirmed that it will see to the security of INEC officials, electorates and election materials

Below is a statement released by the Nigerian Police Force via it online media, it read,

We are very much ready to provide adequate security & safe environment for the 2019 General Election& if the election was today, we are good to go. The IGP has had several meetings with critical stakeholders in the election, the INEC, CSOs. The Police is committed to this course

We are aware of our roles & responsibilities as lead agency in the electioneering process, we are committed, other security & safety agencies are well carried along,we will protect INEC staff, electorates& electoral materials. We will do what is right and support INEC adequately.
In another news, the Nigerian Police Force has urged anyone illegally in possession of weapons to return them willingly.
