Genevieve’s LionHeart has been announced as Nigeria’s submission for The Oscars 2020 for the international category.
In reaction to the submission, Genevieve Nnaji posted in appreciation;
“The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee has chosen #LionHeartthemovie to represent Nigeria for the 2020 Academy Award for Best International Film! We are grateful for this recognition and proud to carry the torch. Thank you all for the love and support thus far. ❤️🇳🇬 “
The movie was the first Nigerian movie originally acquired by Netflix and while it submission for the Oscars calls for celebration, some think otherwise as they compare it to Kemi Adetiba’s movie, King of Boys.
Some think King of Boys is a better submission for the Oscars compared to Lionheart while some think otherwise.

Genevieve Nnaji’s ‘Lionheart’ was submitted for 2020 Oscars? Not to downplay the movie, I didn't enjoy a single bit of it. I suspect not even finishing it.
I recently saw King of Boys, I feel it was a better movie.
Anyway that's my opinion.

Someone said King of Boys is underrated and Lion Heart is overrated..
That's why we are always our problem, can't we just be happy for Genevieve Nnaji for making it to Oscar awards nomination list? Tueh

king of boys is a nollywood movie that ran for 3 hours and still got the audience yearning for more like 3hours wasn't such a drag in the first place but aunty kemi kept us glued like top bond, fucking class! pic.twitter.com/z5Jubqyiqw

Can Nigerians just be happy for Genevieve for making it to Oscars Nominees rather than compare which is better between King Of Boys and Lion Heart?😤.

If you want King of Boys to be considered for an Oscar so bad, go there and remove Lionheart's name. Nonsense.

I actually think King of boys is better than #Lionheart. But they're both really great movies, never mind the flaws

I didn’t enjoy King of boys. My opinion

Unlike Lionheart, King of Boys isn't relatable to the larger world. https://t.co/AxUxK5xM83
