Nobody Can Rig The Election – INEC assures Nigerians

– The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in a statement responded to an allegation made against it by the PDP

– The Electoral Body disclosed that no one can rig the forthcoming election

Earlier on the Peoples Democratic Party PDP had disclosed that INEC Chairman Yakubu Mahmood had been compromised by the ruling party, APC, to see to it that the coming election is rigged.

The PDP added that the electoral body had been offered money, properties, and appointments to see that it is done.

However, INEC in response via the Chief of Press Secretary to the Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi told Nigerians not to mind the PDP.

Oyekanmi further urged the PDP spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan to come up with provable evidence that will reveal that INEC had been paid to rig the election.

He disclosed that there is no one within or outside INEC that can rig the 2019 General election.

Rotimi Oyekanmi said: “Please ask him, where is the concrete evidence to support these new allegations? What does the country stand to benefit from this desperation to cause needless confusion?

“Did he attend the meeting where such incentives were purportedly offered to the INEC chairman? Does he have witnesses to support his assertions?’’

“Rather than work with the commission to ensure that the general elections less than 30 days away are successfully conducted, it is very sad that some people are determined to cast aspersions on the good work that INEC has been doing in the last three years just for their selfish interests.

“Let me assure Nigerians that nobody within or outside INEC can rig the 2019 general elections.”

The INEC spokesperson further disclosed that the accreditations and voting for this year General election will be done at the same time as he urged members of the public to go and pick their PVC.
