Ogbeide Lobi Stars Coach Slums And Dies After Brief Illness

Solomon Ogbeide, coach of NPFL’s Lobi Stars football club has reportedly passed away during the early hours of Monday, May 20, 2019 after struggling with a brief illness.

Shimmu, the Welfare officer of Lobi stars football club alleged that Ogbeide had suffered from low blood pressure before his death.

The Lobi Stars gaffer allegedly collapsed before his side’s tie with Wikki Tourists.

According to a post via Twitter, it is understood that the Benue-based club coach had complained about not feeling well prior to the saddening occurrence.

Nigerian football has been thrown into a state of mourning once again when the news broke out.

According to Goal, Ogbeide could not be revived and was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

Lobi Stars though crashed out of the group phase of the CAF Champions League now occupy second place on the Nigerian Professional Football league standings.

With only two matches left to play, the Benue-based club are favourites to clinch a super six ticket from their group.

League leaders, Rangers have been guaranteed a spot in the super six playoffs with other teams struggling among themselves to make the final cut.

A former Super Eagles player, Edema Fuludu while speaking to Goal said the news took him by surprise as the veteran coach had shown no signs of being sick.

“He was a nice man to the core. He was my coach and a very good person to be with. His death is a sad loss to Nigerian football”, he said.
