Olusegun Obasanjo – ” I will do everything possible to safeguard Nigeria’s Democracy’

– Former Pres. Olusegun Obasanjo said he would do everything humanly possible to safeguard Nigeria’s Democracy

– He applauded the fact that Nigerians are already rising to the occasion to promote the country’s Democracy

Former Pres. and elder statesman, Olusegun Obasanjo during a book launching titled ‘ Politics as Dashed Hopes in Nigeria’ written by his former Special Assistant on Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA, Abuja, Awuala Anwar, spoke about Democracy in the country.

According to Olusegun Obasanjo in his statement, he disclosed that he is ready to do every thing in his power as human to see that the Democracy of Nigeria is safeguarded.

He added that he is happy that Nigerians are rising to the occasion to see that the country’s democracy is guarded, which shows they cherish it.

I am happy Nigerians are leaving up to their duties and responsibilities in guidance of our democracy,” the former president said.

He added that: “If we cherish democracy, we will all guard and protect our democracy. And that I believe is the main purpose of the book.

“I am in despair; our hope lies in democracy and good governance as one of the hallmarks of free fair and credible election.”

Olusegun Obasanjo happens to be the Democratic president that took over the country after the military regime ended, he was the President between 1999 to 2007.

In another news, the former Pres. has given his support to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,  Atiku Abubakar in the coming presidential election slated for February 16th.

Olusegun Obasanjo who had previously refused to support his former Vice Pres. in his bid to become president in the past has disclosed that he has forgiven Atiku Abubakar following intervention from clerics.
