Omawumi Reveals Who She Would Have Voted As President.

Omawumi, one of Nigeria’s A-list singers and music composers has made known who she would have voted for the upcoming Presidential elections.

With the upcoming elections only few days away, President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar remain the favourites in what seems like a two-legged race.

However, Omawumi in an interview with Vanguard Newspaper revealed it was former Minister of Education and now former Presidential Candidate of ACPN, Obiageli Ezekwesili who would have gotten her vote in the Presidential Elections if she didn’t pull out of the Presidential race.

The singer believes Obiageli Ezekwesili who has previously held a Ministerial position has always been involved in the affairs of the country and possess the boldness and confidence to speak up when things go wrong.

The singer stressed that she wasn’t rooting for the former Minister because she was a woman citing her leading the ‘Bring back our girls’ campaign enough reason for anyone to vote for her. She added that she thinks Ezekwesili is the best of all the candidates for the job.

Omawumi also added that Ezekwesili also proved a point at the Presidential debate where she listed her plans for the country.

The singer on women in politics had this to say:

“I think that as women, with active participation and inspiring other young women we can contribute to the growth of the nation. That is exactly what is happening now; when women sit down together, what they talk about is no longer domestic issues.

“What we talk about is why politicians think they can misbehave and not be held accountable. When women are being more interested in what is going on and then we can continue to spread the conversation.

“The more it spreads the more women we will find to be interested in knowing and being a part of the movement. It’s not always easy but we will get there”, she said.
