Omeruo Inspires Leganes To Victory With First Goal For The Club

Nigerian defender, Kenneth Omeruo has scored his first goal for Leganes, with his goal helping the Cucumber growers edge past their opponent, Real Sociedad.

His second half effort helped Leganes record a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

The Nigeria International was playing his 15th game for the Laliga outfit, forming a centre-back pairing with his fellow National compatriot, Chidozie Awaziem.

Omeruo, 26 took advantage of that opportunity, helping his side past Sociedad just a game after suffering 5-0 at the hands of Catalan giants, Barcelona.

Real Sociedad had the quickest start to the game through Alexander Isak in the 20th minute before Omeruo levelled matters later on.

The centreback who joined the Cucumber Growers in the summer of 2018 surged forward four minutes after the interval to inspire a thrilling comeback with was his first goal for the Laliga outfit.

Oscar then grabbed a last-gasp winner to help Leganes get what was just their fourth victory all season long, doing so in front of their home crowd.

In spite of than win, the Laliga outfit remain rooted in the bottom three having acquired only 18 points from as many as 22 games.

Leganes would be looking to ease their way out of the drop zone with a victory over Levante on the 8th of February.

This win would definitely boost their morale having being downed by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey. Two goals from Lionel Messi helped the Blaugranas put aside Leganes with the Cucumbers failing to reply.
