Omo-Agege Floors Ekweremadu to Emerge Senate Deputy President

The lawmaker representing Delta Central senatorial district, Ovie Omo-Agege has emerged the Senate Deputy President.

iDONSABI gathered that the Delta lawmaker won the seat with a large number of votes to defeat former Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ekweremadu was seen moving around and talking to colleagues during the with last-minute lobbying but didn’t succeed in retaining the seat.

Omo-Agege scored 68 votes, while Ekweremadu got 37 votes. There was one void vote. In all, 106 senators-elect voted, with Senate President Ahmad Lawan not voting.
