One Dies in Protests of Remo Stars Footballer Tiyamiyu Kazeem, Gov Abiodun to Investigate

An unidentified protester has been killed on Monday as scores of residents staged a protest in Sagamu, Ogun State, over the death of Remo Stars Football Club player, Tiyamiyu Kazeem.

Kazeem who is popularly known as Kaka was allegedly killed by the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) during his arrest in Sagamu Ogun state.

The protesters, who took to the streets also stormed the Palace of the Akarigbo and the Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, demanding justice for the deceased.

Meanwhile, Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun has urged residents of the state to remain calm and not resort to self – help in respect of the deceased defender.

While giving an assurance that similar cases will be looked into, he described the killing of the soccer star as unfortunate and urged players, management and supporters of Remo Stars Football Club, to remain calm, adding that the killers would be brought to justice.

He also assured that a proper, transparent and independent investigation would be launched into the incident to know what transpired with a view to bringing those responsible to justice.

While reiterating that the incident won’t be swept under the carpet, Abiodun described the late player as a young man with great potentials and stated that his government would not take with levity, the safety of lives and property of the good people of Ogun State.
